Instructions are labeled as any other model kit such as revel, amt, monogram etc... Solar panel functions as it should given ample sunlight, indoor lighting. Very pleased with the kit so far.
Bubs O.
Was on a wish list. The recipient was excited to receive this product.
Jamie M.
it arrived just on time, and is like shown in the picture, its beutiful, recomend it, thank you very much.
Hattie I.
My 8 year old loved it but it is a little difficult for him to put together.
Natalie K.
Our son is in middle school, participates in robotics club and he has spent many hours building all the different configurations. Good value for the money. We were intrigued that it has better function outdoors on a cloudy day in the Pacific Northwest than inside the home in an artificially brightly lit room. Hurray for UV photons! The sensitivity of the solar panel is impressive.
Sweet J.
My son put this together easily and has fun with it.
Nancy L.
My grandson liked this project as he was involved in a robotics team at his school. I tend to spoil the boy but if it is scientifically related it can't be all bad!
Coma L.
I bought this for my grandson. Great learning toy! he loves it.
Abigail T.
Wish it had a battery backup so it could go without the sun some
Dhali M.
My 12 year old son, he absolutely love this.great quality and great price! Must have this!!
Rharley G.
We loved this. It took some time to prep the parts but the results were perfect. Our little engineer loves it. We expect many fun filled hours building and playing with the different robots.
Linda G.
grandpa and grandson had fun building this..does need adult to help make it
Pete S.
The nephew apparently loved this.
It was a gift.
Being several states away, I didn't get a chance to put eyes on it personally, but if he's happy with it, good enough for me.
Sherri D.
This is a gift but, I'm sure the recipient will enjoy it.
Chicory D.

Grandson enjoyed putting it together. Directions were clear and helpful.
Mill G.
This is a good gift for ages 11 and up I bought it for my nephew age 6 he was a little too young but it's really cool
Nathan K.
My 8 year old daughter loves this set. She required help cutting apart the plastic components and putting them together. Makes sure you take the time to trim away excess plastic. A utility knife worked well.
Señorita H.
Definitely need some good solid sunlight and possibly a little troubleshooting for missed connections but my 7 yr old daughter built several versions and it worked GREAT.
Vic S.
Arrived on time and was just as advertised, my grandson loved it.
Johnny S.
Totally cool. Want your kid to be an engineer? Inventer enthusiasts perfect gift.recomended for those who never give up.
Williams J.
Definitely a tough build for anyone under 7. gotta make sure for most of the parts u cut off the plastic burs or you will have a hell of a time building it. follow the instructions exactly!
Yves J.
Great product. Many small pieces. Would benefit with a more advanced manual describing the interraction of the modules but the plans are still very clear. I really recommend it.
Rice J.
We got this product for our then 15 year old son to see if mechanical engineering was what he want to do. He loved it.
Sage K.
I bought this for my brother for Christmas and almost a year later he's still playing with it and making all the different robots
Dianna K.
A great project for kids and is a great value.
Jo H.
Great for a child with a tinker's mind.
Ruby M.
Although the parts to this have been scattered far and wide, lost and found, modified and re-modified by my two boys ages 8 and 11 - this kit (and others like it that we have also bought) is simply amazing to keep thoughtful children deep in thought and discovery and pure fun as they make their own things and power them up with the solar charger. When it's dark, they have wired their toys to run on a AA, AAA or 9 volt battery to keep playing in the house. These do take a LOT of sunshine to work, so learn how to wire a battery to it to play indoors.
The price is cheap, but if you have kids who like to engineer their own inventions, this is a must have next to the Legos and Erector sets. We have bought several including 6-in-1 Educational Solar Kit Build Your Own...
Dean K.
Intrigueing, challenging, and quality components. What better item could you get for a 12 yr old at this price.
Beverly J.
young grandson loves it....excellent teaching item also
Bussard J.
Our grandson sends us new pictures of his creations each day. Looks like he is having a blast. I'm ordering it again for another grandson.
Matt T.
Great little robot to put together with kids, takes a little bit of time to clip out the parts, but only like 30 minutes. Great buy for the price and good instructions, nothing too complicated, my 7 and 9 year old had fun putting this together with only a little bit of help from me.
Carla A.
Kept my 9 year old son entertained, although Dad had to help with assembly. There are small parts that could be a choking hazard if you are concerned about that. Overall, good purchase - would buy again.
Madison E.
This is so much fun! I bought this for my 10 year old son. He is fascinated with electronics and building things. This solar robot set is very cool and provide hours of fun. I initially had to help with the setup. But, after the initial prep work my son was able to take over himself.
Teddy D.
Great toy building system ...very educational and worth every penny. Fun to play with and holds a kid's attention.
Joe T.
OK, they sort of stretch the 14:1 ratio but this toy is a lot of fun and it teaches your child a bit about solar energy.
My 12 year old grandson is a bit of a science nerd. He loves this thing and has been building variations on the robots since I gave it to him.
Hours of fun and educational - everyone wins.
Billie N.
I'm holding this for my grandson's birthday. He's into science, computers, and Legos (among things), and I'm hoping to expand some of this interest into robotics. The one thing I couldn't tell from the ad was the recommended age level. It's 10+. He'll be turning 13, so this should be a fun project for him to play with.
Dilan L.
Bought this for my nephew and he loved it.
India R.
I am always interested in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) toys as that seems to be the wave of the future. This is a great learning product and much less expensive than items that are labeled "STEM" toys.
Christine D.
Great educational robot!
Jack A.
My daughter loves this little robot. She spent hours taking it apart and rebuilding different configurations when she got it. The solar panel need direct sunlight, but if you have a high wattage incandescent or halogen lamp you can power it from that for cloudy days and nighttime playing. Just be careful that you don't set anything on with your lamp...
Stephen P.
I have a grandchild that is busy all of the time. The 14-in-1 Solar Robot helps her keep busy in an educational environment.
Lovie S.
I bought this for my 9-year-old grandson. He is quite bright, and computer savvy, but I have never seen him so excited as when he completed his first robot. He was thrilled. It was too complicated for me, but he knocked it right out! Great experience!,
Jones V.
It was a good birthday present for my 7 year old son. After helping him organize all the pieces in the plastic bags that are included it makes it easy for him to put the robots together. I helped him build the main unit. Some of the pieces are pretty small so adult supervision is required if you are buying this for a young child. My 7 year old acts more like a 9 year old so he is able to put robots together with minimal help.
Bao N.
Not too complicated and great for kids to keep their hands and minds busy while figuring out different ways to put this together.
Cilla C.
This was a gift for my 10-year-old daughter and she LOVES IT! I did have to help her troubleshoot her first project (it was missing one tiny piece), but she has been able to do all the work completely on her own--from cutting out the parts to building the robots. This is an awesome learning toy.
Jude T.
So far so good on this one. Just make sure you start from the beginning of the book when you start creating things. His body isn't easy to come apart. 9 year old had a little trouble but was able to find and cut out the peices.
Conrad S.
I was afraid that 'bots' made with this set would be super small and move slow in normal sunlight but I was wrong. I was very happy with the size AND their performance. They move quite well in normal sunlight, even when it is not super sunny. Very happy with the set.
Just as a rough guide most of the items you can make with this set are at least 4 inches big once built.
Yvette D.
Of ALL the 2016 X-MAS gifts (ranging from drones w/ virtual reality glasses to lego sets)-- my 10 year old is absolutely raving with appreciation for this gift in particular!! :-)) He's always shown an affinity for computer coding, however this product (at least on initial presentation and level of engagement) has surpassed all expectations!!
Oksana C.
this robotics toy is awesome. my son and i built it together and it works great!. it's a little delicate so don't expect to be able to "play" with the robot. it's more of an educational toy: build it, put it in the sun and watch it go.
Mercedes Y.
What a great gift!
Al O.
This is a neat solar robot. We bought it for our 4 year old because she likes to build things with Daddy and has the patience to sit still and focus for oddly long periods of time. It would be great for a much older child to do on their own. Our first robot was finished at night and we were eager to try it out. We followed it around with t trouble light and that worked just fine. The next day the robot worked fine in direct sunlight.
Anne K.
Got this for my God Son's birthday. Although his father has "helped" him with it, I know he's enjoying it ad I've been informed of the different robots that can be made. This is educational without seeming too educational-
I highly recommend this....oh and any kid interested in robotics would like it - even my god daughter had enjoyed her brother's toy.
Meggan Y.
My nephew loved the customizable robot! The really nice thing is that after you build the central mechanism and solar panel, it's very easy to change out the accessory pieces.
The most important tip I can give is to make sure you test the central mechanism before you put the whole thing together, it's a pain to take apart after.
Loni H.
This is too small to drive to work. Jerks in Tesla's point & laugh. I gave it to my kids after a week & they seem to enjoy it though.
Mary M.
My 9 year old grandson and I spent several hours piecing together the solar robot. At the point when we thought we were finished, we could only move the robot slightly back and forth. We realized the problem and took the robot apart and made an adjustment in the gear box. We were so excited when we took it in the driveway, the sun hit the solar panel and the robot took off! A great opportunity to spend time with the grandson and work out the problems together. Suggestion: when snipping the parts from the plastic, use a fingernail scissor and clip close to the edge of the part. That was our resolved problem, we hadn't clipped close enough to one of the parts and the gear stuck on the gear box. We made autobot!T
Chris R.
Super happy with this. Our 9 year old boy has had endless hours of fun with it. Very stimulating for the young mind. It's fairly technical in spots, so adult or teen help might be needed to get the wires and gearing to line up just right. Very happy with it.
Fred J.
Awesome gift for my 9 yo grandson. We spent the summer building the different robots and he learned a lot about following direction, construction and how gears work together. Highly recommended.
El O.
Bought this for my grandson. It's hard to find educational toys that are also a lot of fun, but this one gets it done. He really enjoys being able to take it apart and rebuild it into a different configuration.
Germaine D.
This item was purchased for a grandchild who is "totally" into robotics. These kits are wonderful for the "curious" mind and busy fingers who want to create something that gives them a great deal of satisfaction. Would recommend any of these products to the "young minds" of our future!
Becky W.
We bought this for our 11 year old grandson’s birthday. He hasn’t had a chance to build it yet, but was enthusiastic about it.
Irina E.
The 8-year-old boy who received this as a gift said, "I've been dreaming about a robot like this!" He then promptly sat down and joyfully worked on all the tiny gearbox pieces other reviewers didn't like. However, for him, that was part of the fun! So don't worry about the many small pieces. It's just more fun for the right kid who likes that sort of thing.
Chakris R.
Well written instructions and good step by step assembly visual cues.
However, robot pieces come in plastic grid and you must take the time to carefully cut each piece of the set with your hands before you assemble anything.
If you are not patient and focused type, this toy may not be for you. My nine year old son gladly helped snap off pieces with his hands and scissors. He loved it.
Assembly ing the bed of the robot is a little tricky and requires either and adult or handy kid. Gear explanation not as visually clear as it could be.
Our robot worked just fine.
David c.
Small. Simple. Time consuming. Fun project. There are a lot of small pieces that take a lot of time to seperate. Cutting off plastic spurs left behind from seperation is important for the robos to run properly. Worth the time to do it. After cutting away what I could, I used a small sponge sanding block to smooth the area out. My 9 y/o son did most of the work and built the first few bots himeself. A little guidance goes a long ways. Start with the simpler bots first. Work your way up into the more difficult builds.
Kit comes w/several sealable baggies to keep the parts seperate for storage and safe keeping. Great kit for beginner and intermediate builders. I recommend this kit for beginner robo and engineer enthusiasts.
Leo D.
We gave this to our 11-year old for Christmas. It was hard to find at the time but well worth the search! Our son's face lit up like the Christmas tree when he saw this and he got to work as soon as we were done with gifts. I LOVE the packages it comes with. Made separating and organizing the kit a breeze. I wish every company thought of such things. My husband did have to help him get some of the pieces separated and they are engineered a bit rough, as other reviewers had mentioned. Thankfully, Daddy knows enough about these things to help him and got them to do what he needed to do, but unknowledgeable Mommys like myself might have trouble.
The robots do work with a flashlight aimed directly at the panel so they can be played with inside. Just make sure you have a nice, bright flashlight.
Well worth the money for the educational and fun value!
Henry B.
If your kid is into building or robotics this is the item for you! It has multiple configuration and was fairly easy to set up with help from a adult. Its not huge, but doesn't need to be. Each configuration has its own difficulties, which was great part of the building progress for child and parent. It would be my recommendation that the child be of seven or older. Can't remeber exactly the age limit on the box. I would definitely buy this item again!! It was a great project for father and son!
Schoenborn T.
Great product. Super fun to play with. Clearly built by a genius, as it comes with baggies to store parts. Not just that, but there are stickers for labeling the parts. And not just that, but all the parts are organized so that no two parts in each baggy are similar at all. It's a small thing, but SUPER HELPFUL.
Milan D.
Great toy/learning experiment, especially for price. FYI you need to assemble like a model you have to trim and sand the parts. Its not just pop out and play or it wont work pieces will hang up on burs. We used Xacto knife to cut out, dremel tool, sandpaper, and files to finish them. We built 3 projects with a little tweaking they work.
